My son started taking Tae Kwon Do at All Star Martial Arts a little over ten years ago, and he is now an instructor there as well.
I started training nine years ago. My very first class was a knife defense class. I managed to break three toes and got a rubber knife in the eye, but I was hooked. Since that time, I have taken every opportunity to learn and train in as many martial arts as I could. It also caused me to take a closer look at my own health and fitness as well. Four years ago I had the pleasure of visiting ICSU to get my certification in Krav Maga and have been teaching at All Star ever since as a Krav and fitness instructor.
My classes have a wide range of students from fifteen years old to grandpas and grandmas. They also range in experience. I have had the pleasure of instructing black belts in several traditional martial arts forms such as Hapkito, Judo, Akito, and Tae Kwon Do. I love to see how their own trainings blend with Krav, and then apply my observations to my own training and understanding.
I also blend my other training into my teaching as well. I like to have fun while conducting a class. A joke or a quick anecdote every ten minutes or so can keep student's attention, and makes it easier to process information. I mix light sparring with pressure tests and aggression drills to make the training as close as possible to the real thing without causing injuries.
Dalton began training in Tae Kwon Do in 2007. During that time he has reached the rank of 3rd Dan. Dalton has been an instructor at All-Star Martial Arts since 2013 and works primarily with our Ninjas, Dragons and Jr.’s classes.
In addition to training in Tae Kwon Do Dalton enjoys training with traditional martial arts weapons including the Bo Staff, Sword and Escrimas and he leads the All-Star Martial Arts Demo Team.
In his free time Dalton enjoys reenacting his favorite scenes from Doctor Who.
Alex began his study of martial arts with All-Star in October 2010. He achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in May 2013 and his 2nd Dan Black Belt in May 2015. He studied Krav Maga for 2 years. Later, he enjoyed the privilege of training competitively in Olympic Style sparring for nearly 2 years.
He helped his younger siblings with their martial arts training from the outset, and took naturally to instructing from there. He is currently leading the special needs students and finding it very rewarding. His goal is to help each student reach their full potential.
In addition to martial arts, his varied interests include programming, philosophy and psychology, and he enjoys game design in his spare time.
